Overview

Cariboo-Chilcotin School District is a place to build a meaningful career while living in one of British Columbia’s most spectacular and affordable regions. Our schools serve diverse rural, small town, and First Nations communities across a vast and beautiful landscape, and our staff are deeply committed to inclusion, innovation and student success.

Whether you are an early-career teacher looking for mentorship, an experienced educator ready for leadership opportunities, or a support professional seeking purpose-driven work, Cariboo-Chilcotin offers the chance to make a real impact while being part of a collaborative and caring district community.

Why You’ll Love It Here

Learning in our district is shaped by the people, cultures and landscapes that make the Cariboo-Chilcotin unique.

Students have access to a wide range of programs that reflect their interests and aspirations, from French Immersion and First Nations language and culture programming to dual credit opportunities, skilled trades pathways, academies, alternate education and locally developed courses such as aviation and structural firefighting.

For educators, this creates opportunities to design engaging learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom and connect students with their communities, the land and future career pathways.

What Makes Us Unique?

We believe that great schools begin with supported staff. Our district is committed to creating an environment where educators feel welcomed, encouraged, and inspired throughout every stage of their careers.

New teachers benefit from thoughtful mentorship and comprehensive onboarding, while experienced educators have opportunities to deepen their practice through collaborative professional learning, district initiatives, and leadership development.

For those interested in pursuing school leadership, our Growing Leaders program provides aspiring administrators with the knowledge, experience, and confidence to take the next step in their careers. Here, professional growth is more than a goal, it’s part of our culture.

Our School Community

What sets our district apart is the strength of our relationships. Education here is deeply connected to community, place, and culture, creating learning environments that are authentic, inclusive and relevant to students’ lives.

Our educators work closely with families, local organizations, and First Nations partners to create meaningful learning experiences grounded in respect, collaboration and belonging.

Whether you’re teaching in one of our larger community schools or in a smaller rural setting, you’ll be part of a district where your contributions are recognized and where strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

Life in the Cariboo-Chilcotin

Our schools are located across the Cariboo-Chilcotin, including the hub communities of Williams Lake and 100 Mile House, as well as a number of smaller rural and remote communities throughout the region such as Anahim Lake, Horsefly and the Nemiah Valley.

This gives employees the opportunity to choose from a range of living and working environments, from full-service communities to close-knit rural schools with strong local connections.

Affordable housing, calm commutes and easy access to the outdoors make it possible to spend more time doing what you love. Whether that means hiking and mountain biking after work, casting a line into a quiet lake, cheering on a local hockey game, or exploring the region’s vibrant arts and cultural scene, you’ll find a healthy balance between professional fulfillment and personal well-being.

We Value Collaboration

Our district offers something that can be difficult to find elsewhere: the opportunity to build meaningful relationships while making a visible difference every day.

Our schools are places where innovation is encouraged, collaboration is valued, and educators have the flexibility to create learning experiences that reflect both student interests and the unique character of the communities they serve.

With a lower cost of living than many urban centres, a strong commitment to inclusion and Truth and Reconciliation, and a culture that values continuous learning, our district offers an environment where staff can thrive.
