About Majestic BC International School

Majestic BC International School (MBCIS) is a certified British Columbia Offshore School located in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China. Students enrolled in the B.C. program study the British Columbia curriculum in English with B.C.-certified educators and work toward the British Columbia Certificate of Graduation – the Dogwood Diploma. The program serves students in Grades 10 through 12.

MBCIS operates within Majestic International College (MIC), a larger international secondary-school campus that also delivers British IGCSE and A-Level programming. This gives B.C. teachers the benefits of working in a focused Canadian program while being part of a larger international community of English-speaking educators.

The school offers an exceptionally well-equipped teaching environment. Current school recruitment information describes small B.C. program classes, generally fewer than 15 students, substantial teacher preparation time, modern classrooms and science laboratories, a design and maker space, digital learning facilities, a three-storey library, performing and visual arts spaces, a full-size gymnasium and fitness centre, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and playing fields.

The Opportunity

MBCIS is seeking a professional, collaborative and enthusiastic secondary teacher to join its B.C. teaching team.

The successful candidate will teach courses within the British Columbia Graduation Program. The precise teaching assignment will be developed according to the successful candidate's academic preparation, teaching experience, B.C. certification and the instructional needs of the school. The position will focus on Business courses and Career Education courses.

Teachers at MBCIS are expected to plan, teach, assess and report student learning in accordance with the British Columbia curriculum, including its Big Ideas, Curricular Competencies and Content. Teachers contribute to the wider educational program through student supervision, collaborative planning, extracurricular activities, school events and ongoing professional development. The MIC employment agreement also identifies academic advising and assistance with students' post-secondary planning as part of the teacher's professional responsibilities.

The position requires an educator who can establish positive relationships with highly motivated secondary students, maintain an engaging and well-managed classroom, work collaboratively with B.C. and local colleagues, and communicate effectively in a cross-cultural school community. Teachers are expected to model the professional and ethical standards appropriate to a B.C.-certified school abroad. These expectations closely parallel the responsibilities identified in the CIS–Astana recruitment templates while reflecting the more detailed responsibilities contained in the current MIC agreement.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should possess:

  • A bachelor's degree and recognized teacher-education preparation;
  • A valid British Columbia Certificate of Qualification or appropriate Independent School Teaching Certificate, or credentials that make the applicant eligible to obtain the required B.C. certification before beginning instruction;
  • Appropriate academic preparation and teaching experience in one or more secondary-school subject areas;
  • Secondary teaching experience, preferably including experience with Canadian, North American or international curricula;
  • Strong instructional, assessment, classroom-management and interpersonal skills;
  • An understanding of B.C.'s competency-based curriculum and assessment practices, or a demonstrated willingness and capacity to learn them;
  • Experience working with multilingual/English-language-learning students as an asset;
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a cross-cultural professional environment;
  • A commitment to collaboration, professional growth and participation in the wider life of the school; and
  • The ability to satisfy People's Republic of China work-permit, visa, medical and criminal-record requirements.

Current B.C. Offshore School requirements provide that teachers must hold the appropriate B.C. certification—or applicable written authorization—before beginning to teach in the B.C. program. Current MBCIS advertisements similarly require applicants to be eligible for B.C. teacher certification.

Compensation and Benefits

MBCIS offers a competitive international compensation package. The current MIC salary grid and 2026 MBCIS recruitment materials provide for an experience-based salary of approximately CAD $52,000–$80,000 per year before tax, with placement determined by recognized related teaching experience. The MIC contract specifies monthly salaries ranging from CAD $4,335 to $6,670 on the salary grid, with additional progression for experienced and continuing teachers.

The compensation package also includes:

  • Housing: free furnished on-campus teacher accommodation with utilities provided, or RMB 3,000 per month as an off-campus housing and transportation allowance;
  • Medical insurance: comprehensive medical insurance provided by the school;
  • Airfare/travel assistance: travel benefits in accordance with the MIC contract, including an option for a CAD $1,800 annual travel allowance;
  • Meals: RMB 15 per working day meal allowance and access to the school cafeteria;
  • Work visa support: school assistance with the Chinese work visa and residence-permit process, together with reimbursement of specified eligible visa, medical examination, criminal-record-check and document-authentication expenses;
  • Relocation assistance: first-arrival airport pickup by prior arrangement and up to RMB 1,000 reimbursement for eligible excess baggage;
  • Teacher certification support: eligible teachers may receive reimbursement of up to CAD $450 toward the Pathways to Teach Canada assessment fee, subject to the conditions of the employment agreement;
  • Dependent support: a dependent-child tuition discount may be available, together with limited airfare support for one accompanying eligible family member; and
  • School holidays and leave: vacation according to the annual school calendar, including winter and summer breaks and applicable statutory holidays, together with the leave provisions established in the MIC employment agreement.

Working Schedule

The regular teaching week is Monday through Friday. The MIC agreement establishes normal school hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including a one-hour lunch period, with an average teaching load of up to 20 hours of classroom instruction per week. Teachers also participate in preparation, student supervision, meetings, professional development and other school responsibilities.

As is common in schools operating within the Chinese school calendar, occasional weekend work may be required for government-designated make-up days, examinations, professional development or school events.

Living in Foshan

Foshan is a major city in the Pearl River Delta and an integral part of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. The metropolitan area has approximately 9.79 million residents and directly adjoins Guangzhou. It combines the amenities and transportation infrastructure of one of China's largest urban regions with a distinct Cantonese identity.

MBCIS is located in Nanhai District, close to Guangzhou South Railway Station. The school campus is approximately a ten-minute drive from this major high-speed-rail hub. From Guangzhou South, high-speed rail provides extensive connections throughout China, while Hong Kong West Kowloon is approximately an hour away by train. Foshan and Guangzhou are also increasingly integrated through metro and intercity rail networks.

For teachers interested in experiencing southern China beyond the classroom, Foshan offers a subtropical climate, extensive parks and recreational opportunities and an especially rich cultural heritage. The city is closely associated with Cantonese cuisine and culture, traditional ceramics, Cantonese opera, lion dancing and Chinese martial arts, including the traditions associated with Wong Fei-hung and Ip Man.

The housing component of the employment package substantially reduces one of the principal costs of relocating internationally: teachers may choose furnished school accommodation with utilities included or receive the monthly off-campus housing and transportation allowance.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit:

A cover letter, current résumé/CV, information regarding current or prospective B.C. teacher certification, and the names and contact information of professional references.

Applications should be sent to:
